CRITERIA FOR NOMINATION

To be eligible for the Washington Metropolitan Slow Pitch Softball Hall of Fame, the nominee(s) presented for consideration must be classified in one of the following categories and participated in one of the following jurisdictions:

  • Washington, D.C. 

  • Maryland:  Anne Arundel County *Calvert County * Charles County * Montgomery County * Prince Georges County * St. Mary’s County

  • Virginia:  City of Alexandria * Arlington County * City of Falls Church * Fairfax County * Loudon County and Prince William County

PLAYER: One who has demonstrated the highest caliber of skill and has excelled at the highest levels of play in Slow Pitch Softball for a minimum of ten (10) years. Active players must be 35 years of age or older, however this age requirement may be waived for those nominees that have been retired from active participation for a period of two or more years or who are deceased.

SENIOR PLAYER: One who has not been inducted into the Hall of Fame as a Player and has excelled at the highest caliber in the Senior Division for a minimum of five (5) years. Male Player: 50 & over, Female Player: 40 & over.

MANAGER / COACH: One who has made a significant contribution to the sport of Slow Pitch Softball in the Washington Metropolitan area and has excelled as a manager or coach of a team for a minimum of ten (10) years. Through his/her efforts, the team(s) have reached or exceeded their potential.

UMPIRE: One who has officiated a minimum of ten (10) years (active umpires must be thirty-five (35) years of age or older) and excelled at the highest levels in a recognized Slow Pitch Softball umpire association.

ADMINISTRATOR/ORGANIZER: One who has made a significant contribution to the sport of Slow Pitch  Softball as an Administrator/Organizer for at least five (5) years.

SPONSOR: One who has made a significant contribution to the sport of Slow Pitch Softball through sponsorship of slow pitch softball teams for a minimum of five (5) years.

PROMOTER/SPECIAL SERVICE:  Individual(s) or organizations that have rendered outstanding contributions to or played a significant role in the growth and promotion of Slow Pitch Softball in the Washington Metropolitan area.

TEAM: A team that has achieved extraordinary accomplishments (national championships or excelled nationally) in either a single year or over a period of years.

CUT-OFF DATE FOR RECEIVING NOMINATION FORMS:

October 1, 2023

The form can be filled in on your computer keyboard and then saved.  If you are using an Apple device, you might have to print the form and fill it in by hand.
